How does a shy guy like me get the guts to talk to girls?

ok i work at a retail store so i see just about everyone who lives in my town, i see tons of girls i would consider going out with, however what the hell would i say to them to strike up a conversation without seeming like a loser? also it seems impossible since most of these girls are already taken, they are either married or with a serious boyfriend. iam getting very discouraged by the fact that the vast majority of the girls are already taken, so what should i do or try?

serious answers only please thanks! How does a shy guy like me get the guts to talk to girls?
Unless youre managing that retail store, you most likely are a loser. I dont say this to be mean, I say it to give you a swift kick in the a$$, for your own good.

First rule when picking up a girl, dont think. If youre talking to her and at the same time wondering what she thinks about you, you will come off looking like an idiot. Same rule with approaching women, wait no more than 3 seconds after seeing her to approach and open. Take longer than that and youll overthink and blow it.

Second rule: Smile. Be funny. Women are rarely funny themselves, but they love to laugh, and by smiling, youre showing that youre together and fun.

Third rule: The less you appear to be trying, the better you do. Nobody wants or appreciates something that they can have whenever they want. If a girl senses that youre desperate or needy, nothing turns her off more.

Mystery, arguably the worlds greatest pick-up artist, came up with the Cat String Theory. Think of a cat playing with a dangling piece of string. As long as you keep moving the string and pulling it away, the cat goes nuts, rolling and jumping and grabbing, but as soon as you drop the string on the ground the cat will look at it and walk away to find something more interesting to play with.
